This year's 13th Annual KICKS USA Nationals Championships were held
on May 13, 2006 at Gardiner Maine Middle School. The event was put
on by Shihan Brent J.Crisci, head instructor of the United Martial
Academies in Augusta, Maine. This national tournament was rated and
sanctioned by IPPONE (Independent Practioners and Promoters of New
England), SMART (State of Maine Martial Artists Ratings),as well as
U.S.B.B.S (United States Black Belt Society).
The day began with Shihan Crisci welcoming everyone to the tournament.
Honors were given to Mr. Wade Hoover by Shihan Crisci. Mr. Hoover
was recognized for his ongoing military service to this country in the
Air Force as he serves overseas fighting for our freedoms.
This event saw some of the best karate teams in New England competing
against one another, including Crisci's own Team KICKS USA Karate Team,
the Rouleau/Holleys of Vermont, HUARD'S Sport Karate Team, Team Naha,
and Team Jukado and Team AIKA , to name a few. The BEST
SUPPORTING SCHOOL was HUARD'S Sport Karate Team. All junior competitors
not receiving one of the top four spots in their division were all
presented with Olympic-style medals for their efforts. This was all a
part of Crisci's endeavor to recognize every child for their spirit and
hard work in coming to the competition.
The competition ran smoothly with the local Team KICKS USA students
capturing some top honors. Shihan Crisci every year offers Special Needs
divisions for the physically challenged martial artists. The following
were the Winners of those rings: Robert Morin, Skyler Webster-Pact and
Patrick Conant.
The following won the 6 Grand Champion Samurai Awards for the day:
